Venus Glow™ Hydra Facial
The Venus Glow™ Hydra Facial is a facial renewal treatment consisting of two main steps. During the first step, the skin is cleansed of dirt, debris, and impurities using a specialized cleanser that contains lactic acid. Lactic acid dissolves the bonds that hold dead skin cells together, which allows for optimal exfoliation. Additionally, lactic acid is absorbed deep into the pores and provides a pathway for the glow serum used in the second step. Once your skin has been cleaned and prepped with lactic acid, then a tiny vacuum-like attachment will be used to gently open the pores in order to extract dead skin cells, excess oil, and other impurities.
For the second step, you will get to choose from four different speciality serums, including:
- GlowAstra: used to brighten the skin, GlowAstra is formulated with natural plant extracts and vitamin C to enhance and maintain skin tone, texture, and brightness.
- GlowSana: used to protect the skin, GlowSana is formulated with antioxidants and powerful plant extracts known to slow the aging process of skin in order to improve firmness and skin elasticity.
- GlowNova: used to decrease signs of aging, GlowNova contains amino acid peptides known to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, while also enhancing the texture, strength, and resilience of the skin. Also contains plant extracts that detoxify and aid in collagen production.
- GlowClara: used to decrease blemishes, GlowClara is formulated with peptides that relieve skin blemishes, redness, and irritation, as well as plant extracts that boost the skin’s repair system.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Almost anyone can be a candidate for a Venus Glow™ Hydrafacial and the effects can be seen on any skin type. However, individuals who have a history of cancer, are pregnant or nursing, have an active skin condition, or have undergone recent surgical or aesthetic procedures may not be ideal candidates. Therefore, to determine if you are an ideal candidate for a Venus Glow™ Hydrafacial, it is recommended to schedule an appointment with one of our skin care professionals at any of our three Therapeutic Aesthetics locations: Toronto, Burlington, or Pickering.
When receiving a Venus Glow™ Hydrafacial at Therapeutic Aesthetics, your skin will need to be free of makeup, lotions, and/or facial creams. A lactic acid cleansing solution will then be applied to the face. Your skincare provider will then use a wand with an adjustable vacuum and 360-degree rotating tip to gently open your pore and remove impurities. At the same time, the rotating tip will deposit two ultra-fine jet streams of purified water into the pores. The combination of the vacuum and spinning tip massage allows nutrients from the bloodstream to spread and nourish the skin.
Venus Glow™ Hydrafacials are painless and can be completed in about 15-45 minutes, depending on your individual case. During the treatment, you may feel a gentle suction as the applicator wand is moved over the skin. You may also experience a slight cooling sensation as the serums cleanse and treat the skin. Most patients find their Venus Glow™ Hydrafacial to be quite relaxing.
After your treatment, you should experience no discomfort. Your skin will immediately have a renewed glow, although it may also be slightly flushed. There is no downtime associated with having a Venus Glow™ Hydrafacial. Your provider will, however, recommend wearing sunscreen and possibly abstaining from using makeup for a certain amount of time.
Chemical peels are cosmetic treatments that apply a chemical solution to the skin, which causes it to exfoliate and peel off, revealing new skin underneath. They are often performed on the face, but they can also be performed on the neck and hands. Chemical peels are one of the most effective ways to treat signs of aging, discoloration, and UV damage, however they can also be used to correct damaged skin, pigmentation, uneven skin texture, fine lines, and wrinkles. Chemical peels also improve overall skin health by providing dermal and epidermal stimulation that helps stabilize skin functions and support skin renewal.
There are three different types of chemical peels available:
- Superficial peels: use mild acids (alpha-hydroxy) to exfoliate and penetrate only the outermost layer of skin
- Medium peels: use stronger acids (trichloroacetic or glycolic) to penetrate the middle and outer layers of skin
- Deep peels: use stronger acids (phenol or trichloroacetic) to penetrate the middle layer of skin
Frequently Asked Questions:
You may be a candidate for a chemical peel if you are looking to eliminate or improve the appearance of:
- Fine lines & wrinkles
- Sun damage
- Uneven skin tone or redness
- Acne scars
To determine if you are an ideal candidate and what type of chemical peel is best for you, schedule an appointment with one of our skin care professionals at any of our three Therapeutic Aesthetics locations: Toronto, Burlington, or Pickering.
At Therapeutic Aesthetics, all our chemical peels are performed in the comfort of our office. Depending on the type of peel you are having, topical or regional anesthetics may be used to keep you comfortable during the procedure. To begin, we will first clean your skin and apply eye protection if needed. During your chemical peel, a chemical solution will be applied to your skin using a cotton ball, gauze, or brush. As your skin starts to whiten, you may experience a stinging sensation. Your provider will then remove the chemical solution and/or apply a neutralizing solution to your skin.
After having a chemical peel, your recovery will depend on the type of peel performed. Light chemical peels generally only require 4-7 days of recovery, medium peels take about 5-7 days and can be accompanied by swelling, and deep chemical peels take about 14 days and are accompanied by severe swelling and redness. During the recovery phase, your provider will give you specific instructions to follow. It is important to follow these instructions for the fastest recovery.
How frequently you should get a chemical peel depends on the depth of the peel. In most cases, you can have chemical peels performed every 2-4 weeks, however it is recommended to discuss your treatment goals with your provider to develop a custom treatment plan.
Although chemical peels are not dangerous, they can be irritating to your skin and should not be used too frequently.
